Corporate Safety Manager

Evapco’s Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for leading our corporation’s safety and environmental strategies, programs, and procedures. This successful candidate will partner with business leaders, provide leadership, and apply technical abilities to engage employees at all levels of the organization in order to develop and sustain a world class safety environment at Evapco facilities.


Reports to: Senior Vice President of Global Operations.

Span of Control: The position works closely with all site Safety Coordinators

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and guidance regarding implementation and maintenance of all safety related programs including Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Arc-Flash, Hazard Chemical Right to Know, new employee safety indoctrination, fall protection, hearing protection, PPE Assessment, crane safety, fire drills, ammonia safety programs/ammonia emergency response team, first-aid teams, safety committees.
  • Assess the effectiveness of plant safety performance and culture, provide development and recommended actions for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, federal, state, and local guidelines regarding safety and environmental programs and procedures.
  • Lead and manage visible risk and the processes for adherence to OSHA regulations. Provide expert technical support in identifying and resolving critical regulatory issues.
  • Conduct safety audits of facilities to pinpoint unsafe working conditions and practices and develop sound recommendations for corrections.
  • Ensure safety-related training is completed as necessary and to remain in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Update management on the status of Evapco’s safety program through regular reporting.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, etc., on the design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and processes to ensure safe design.
  • Responsible for Forklift Safety and applicable DOT Programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Prior experience evolving safety programs to meet company goals.
  • Ability to analyze data while remaining comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to resolve conflict.
  • Experience conducting audits and developing action plans to address findings.
  • Develop safety training content and lead others to execute safety training.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, program development and project management skills.
  • 7+ years of relevant safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge and experience calculating and evaluating Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Experience Modification Rate (EMR).
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the following preferred:
    1. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
    2. Machine safety and guarding standards including OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (Subpart O), ANSI B11, and applicable International Standards including EN ISO 13857, EN 349, ISO 13854, EN 999, and EN ISO 13855.
    3. Machine safety risk assessments per ISO 12100.
